On Metamorphogenesis, Esoteric takes doomdeath to the extreme. Containing three long "songs" (the shortest just under twelve minutes), the emphasis is on dreary, torturous, dissonant feedback-laden riffs, along with harrowing death growls added to the mix. This is clearly a band obsessed with the depressing side of life, as evidenced by song titles such as "Lamented Despondency" and "A Worthless Dream". As with a similarly-styled band recently added to these pages (Khanate), Esoteric's music is not for the masses, as it is really only accessible to those who can appreciate such harrowing soundscapes as these. Quite unconventional, occasionally very interesting, often (to these ears) just a bit too much, but an intriguing band nonetheless.
