Deathstars

Deathstars trace their history back to a previous band known as Swordmaster. The exact details vary from report to report, but the gist of the story is that either Swordmaster disbanded and several of the members created a new band, or that Swordmaster changed their name and style, modifying their lineup a bit in the process. In any case, Deathstars bears little resemblance to Swordmaster, and if one expects something like Dissection (where two core members here once played), these guys are nothing like that band either. Instead, these guys mix the stark techno sounds of, say, Rammstein, with the goth rock stylings that many a Finnish band have taken to in the last few years. The vocal style is that classic deep majestic male singing (accented with a few female backing vocals), with the songs straightforward and catchy. These guys aren't reinventing the wheel here, as this style is pretty developed at this point, but they execute well and are worth a listen if you're into this style of music.
