Dream Theater  


Dream Theater quickly rose to prominence in the early nineties and since has become the major flag-bearer of the genre of progressive metal, as it seems practically every band that has come along since is inevitably compared to DT. They were at their most metallic in their early days, as heard on When Dream And Day Unite (and still earlier, in their early days when they were known as Majesty), while their recent material shows them relaxing, maturing, and stretching the bounds of progressive rock/metal. Most of the past and present members have been involved in side projects such as Liquid Tension Experiment (Petrucci/Portnoy), Chroma Key (Moore), Mullmuzzler (LaBrie), and others, all of which have released albums.

Trivia: both Johns and Mike are all married to members of the thrash band Meanstreak!
