The Crown
This Swedish band was formed in 1990 and recorded two albums
in the mid nineties under the name Crown Of Thorns, before legal
pressure from a Christian band of the same name forced the name
change to just The Crown.
The style here is a frantic, ferocious blend
of thrash, death, punk, and a bit of
Motorhead,
with the latter two influences in particular
giving the later albums a death rock feel not unlike a faster
version of latter-period
Entombed.
By March 2004 the band had had enough of poor
touring conditions and lack of income from playing, and they broke up.
Several members formed new bands, including
Angel Blake,
Engel,
and
One Man Army And The Undead Quartet,
all of which are still active.
In 2008 four of the five members hooked up with
Deathstars vocalist
Andreas Bergh to form a band called Dobermann, but upon Bergh's
replacement in December 2009, that band decided to become The Crown,
and so this band is active once again.
