Cathedral
Cathedral was formed in 1989 by one-time
Napalm Death
vocalist Lee Dorrian and former
Carcass
roadie Mark Griffiths,
the pair interested in starting a group in the mold of
St. Vitus,
Trouble,
and other doom-laden bands.
Their debut
Forest Of Equilibrium, is unbearably slow doom, but
things began to pick up on
The Ethereal Mirror, and by the time
of 1996's
Supernatural Birth Machine a pronounced
70's/psychedelic influence had found its way into the Cathedral style.
Now more than 15 years into their career, Cathedral is one of
Britain's best doom bands.
In addition to his Cathedral duties, Dorrian owns and runs Rise
Above Records, a small but respected
British independent label specializing in
all things doomy.
