Callisto  


The children of Neurosis have been coming out of the woodwork in recent years, populating a new genre that used be the sole domain of the Bay Area guys. Callisto is one such band, squarely in the atmospheric, sparse, hardcore-ish doom metal mold alongside bands such as Cult Of Luna and Isis. As this style of music has a bit more depth than, say, power metal, it's probably not accurate to simply declare these guys Neurosis clones and leave it at that, yet there's no question where the influences come from or who the target audience is for this. This is heady, introspective, deep, and intense music that puts Callisto at the same level as the aforementioned bands. Well done indeed.
