Angst Skvadron

Angst Skvadron is an odd Norwegian black metal project led by one Trondr Nefas, known for his work in a host of other bands including Urgehal and In Lingua Mortua. This is a trippy, psychedelic take on black metal, with plenty of dischord, odd riffing, and experimental noodling to keep things interesting. Like most bands that focus on being unique, not everything works here, but Angst Skvadron manages to keep the songs from wandering too far off the deep end, while engaging the listener with multiple moods. It's a pretty cool listen, and Sweet Poison (the sophomore 2010 effort) became a surprise addition to the BNR Top Ten lists.

Sadly, founder Nefas passed away in May 2012.
