Alchemy X

Alchemy X is a progressive metal band in the tradition of
Dream Theater
and
Fates Warning,
with the latter band probably the closer reference point.
Their debut album, 1999's
A Delicate Balance, hits all
the right prog metal notes, with a familiar style yet with
a degree of originality as well.
They are slightly heavier than some of their contemporaries,
due in part to featuring two guitarists rather than the
more common
one guitarist/one keyboardist setup.
The album suffers slightly in the production department,
as it lacks the pristine feel often afforded such bands,
though this is a minor criticism at best.
The band recruited noted vocalist Bob Mitchell
(formerly, and once again, of
Attacker,
among others)
for their second album,
11:59:59.
Mitchell has amicably parted ways with the band, who are
now seeking a new vocalist for their next album.
